How I teach

Mathematics is often taught as a sequence of rules: learn the formula, substitute a number into it, get the answer. That might get you through a particular problem, but it doesn’t mean you actually understand the logic behind it.

I want my students to understand the why. Why does this method work? When can you use it? And what happens if you change the question just a little? That means going past the steps and looking at the bigger picture: connecting ideas, identifying patterns, and learning how to choose the right method and explain your thinking.

Every lesson has a purpose. Whether you need to revise, work through a difficult topic, prepare for an exam, or go beyond the standard curriculum, we focus on what makes the biggest difference.

Lessons are 60 minutes long, with notes, materials, and homework provided when useful.

To get started, I offer a 30-minute trial lesson — a great opportunity to see how my teaching style works for you.

What happens in a trial lesson

We start with mathematics

We look at a topic, question, or problem that is relevant to you.

You experience how I teach

We work through the mathematics together, focusing not only on the answer, but on understanding the reasoning behind it.

We decide what comes next

I give you feedback on where you are and what we could work on in future lessons.
